Countdown to Meltdown

I hear about the tragedies from Japan in the aftermath of a massive earthquake followed by a tsunami a week ago that has probably left tens of thousands dead but it seems to me that the media couldn’t give two shits about the Japanese people they’re more focused on a nuclear meltdown.

Ok before I get ahead of myself I’ll say first that my heart goes out to the Japanese people enduring this great calamity. The will and integrity of the Japanese people has not faltered in these tough times even when one of their country’s nuclear power plants is releasing radiation into the air. Despite the losses suffered from the earthquake and tsunami, the media’s more interested on this “meltdown” at a damaged nuclear power plant that has caused so much mass hysteria in recent news. So forget about how the Japanese are taking it by the fact they’re not out rioting in the streets, looting, etc. let alone there are still possibly tens of thousands dead unaccounted for, the media could just care less. They’re more interested about a reactor going up in a mushroom cloud which even in the worst cases is not possible instead of showing what we can learn from the Japanese people to keep order if we have this kind of disaster on our hands.

I’m not a nuclear physicist or an engineer but I can tell you that there is hysteria over a nuclear meltdown that it is going to be the end of the world as we know it. This reactor isn’t going to turn into a nuclear bomb or something that these NIMBY advocates are trying to hype up. The way these reactors are made even in the worst cases there won’t be a nuclear explosion but something of a boiler explosion because of the heat and pressure coming from the outer containment walls which is what these explosions are from recent reports. Oh but the lamestream media is not going to let a “good crisis go to waste." They’re using this disaster as a vehicle to drive home an age old debate that we cannot have nuclear power because it’s dangerous and there’s threats of turning into a nuclear bomb or whatever pathetic talking point these ‘stone-agers’ can come up with.

The point is that while this is bad for Japan, the media is simply blowing things out of proportion. The way these plants are designed there won’t be a nuclear explosion or an epic “meltdown” the worst that can happen that a lot of radiation is released due to a containment breach. They say the Japanese are denying that it isn’t as bad as Western media is portraying. I believe them. I don’t think the Japanese has to necessarily deny anything because they’re doing everything necessary in a professional manner to save lives to get them away from the radiation not a potential nuclear blast zone, so what do these idiotic talking heads on the news know? I think right now the Japanese are taking the type of precautions as any other professional would to stabilize the situation not running around freaking-out like these bumbling morons in the media are doing.

Even worse the media is politicizing this into saying we need to shut down our nuclear power plants because people are getting very NIMBY (not in my backyard) about having nuclear power now because the media has hyped this story up to mass panic to the point that people in California (of all places) are starting to buy iodine like it is going out of stock to protect themselves from radiation. Ok…how far is Japan from California? So far the radiation affects areas as far as 15 miles in the worst conditions in Japan and California is like…THOUSANDS OF MILES FROM JAPAN!

For the love of God people give me a freaking break! The key thing about safeguarding yourself from radiation is…shielding, time and oh yes...DISTANCE! Perhaps not in that particular order in a text book but radiation has to travel a long ways before it affects California or anywhere in the Western US. So I hope the dumb asses in California end up destroying their thyroids from the overdose on iodine because of this unwarranted hysteria.

I guess now since the media has overshadowed the humanitarian efforts in Japan (because liberals just don't give a crap) they’re focused on how certain countries are putting future nuclear power plans on hold because of the manipulated data coming out of Japan. This has been the silver bullet the environmental Nazis has been waiting on for a long time and they’re coming out of the woodwork in that “aha we told you so!” attitude about this whole ordeal. It’ll go down in the near future that this incompetent administration will pander to these extremist, so don’t be surprised that in the next decade this country (that is if we’re left standing from this socialist hijacking) we’ll be the largest Western nation without nuclear power because these nuckfuts used fear, misinformation and irrational hysteria to get what they wanted all along.

America, if there is an actual meltdown it isn’t in Japan, it is here and around the globe.
